The hotel sector is one area of the economy that is currently performing well
, which could attract investors looking for opportunities in hospitality industry. Peter Mindenhall, researcher at IPINGlobal.com, noted that large hotel chains are growing and seeking investment.
"Much of their development is now being funded by private equity rather than by the banks - presenting opportunities for private investors
to capitalise in areas where banks are no longer prepared to," he asserted. And it seems that many have already taken the chance to put money into the sector.
A report published by Jones Lang LaSalle earlier this month revealed that investment volumes in hotels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) were up by 73 per cent in the first half of this year, compared with the same period in 2010. According to the company's EMEA chief executive officer Mark Wynne Smith, much of this capital has originated from within Europe, with France named as the most liquid market.
